BEING A WORTHY EXAMPLE

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

People can never be biblical leaders and truly mature until they come to realize that God has called them to be examples to others. As the Lord Jesus pointed out, “A disciple is not greater than his teacher, but everyone when fully trained will be like his teacher”(Luke 6:40)

Every child of God is called to be a role model for the world to copy. It is the responsibility of believers to reproduce themselves in others by their good works. This is the purpose of our calling. Ephesians 2:10 says: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto Good works, which God hath ordained that we should walk in them.” Being an example places on us awesome responsibility because everything you do is a statement. Being an example makes you a pathfinder, and a positive pace-setter for others in life. In our opening text, we see Paul instructing Timothy as to his obligations. Paul charges him to “be an example to the believers..” Also, in Titus 2:1-15, we can infer that Titus is being encouraged to be an example and to teach others to be godly example.

Timothy and Titus are not the only people expected to be examples but every born again child of God is to follow the example of Christ to be fully qualified as a Christian who can also lead other Christians. Therefore we must prove to others that we are real and genuine in our conduct, our interactions, our speeches, our attitude and in all manner of our conversations.

One of the dynamics of true living is influence. In life, you are either influencing people or people are influencing you. Your lifestyle makes a louder statement than what you say. If you say you are a believer in Christ; is your character portraying the life of Christ to influence others to desire Christ? If we teach our children about loving God, loving others and the importance of assembling ourselves with other believers to worship, grow and minister to others (Hebrew 10:24-25) do we demonstrate the reality of this by doing same ourselves?

Do we teach our children the principle of being on time, of doing all things decently and in order? Then are we constantly late to church ourselves? Do our children often miss church because we are so disorganised that we are unable to make it? Action speaks louder than words. When we put into practice the positive virtues we teach our children, they become positive influence to their peers and to their generation. Only positive examples are recognised in the kingdom.

Your relevance in life is on the basis of your exemplary lifestyle in the kingdom, in your family and in the society at large. Do you want a book of remembrance to be opened for you in heaven? It is your positive impact and influence on others that will determine this. Therefore dare to be a worthy example of a believer.

PRAYER

1.Dear Lord, make me a positive example of a believer. Let my lifestyle bring glory to your name in Jesus name.

2.After the order of Ahitophel, turn the counsel of all my conspirators into foolishness in Jesus name.

PROSPERITY BY THE SPIRIT

Then he answered and spake unto me saying. This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubabel, saying not by might or by power, but my spirit saith the Lord of hosts.”

                                                                                    Zechariah 4:6

A man’s strength can never lift him. It is God that lifts a man. We live in a world where people are striving, struggling to make ends meet. Some work so hard with nothing to show for their hard work; some even involve themselves in ungodly practices in order to make it. But a child of God ought not go through as much to be lifted.. None can amount to anything in until God lifts him. The prosperity of the church is not by who they know but by the spirit of the grace of God upon the church.

Prosperity is divine; it has been set forth in motion by God; it is ordained of God. It is supernatural. It is in operation in the life of every child of God. Financial prosperity is not the only form of prosperity that God wills for us. He wants us to enjoy solid loving relationships, He wants our children to prosper and He wants us to be healthy(3 John1:2 ) If things are going well on your job, you’re prosperous. If your ideas and ventures are materializing, then you are prosperous. You can prosper in everything that you do, touch and speak.

There is a spiritual prosperity that God wishes to manifest in our lives.  He wants us to be enriched bountifully with the wisdom of God. His wish is that we are filled with the knowledge of His will. He wants us to have wisdom and spiritual understanding (Colossians 1:9-10). When you are facing a dilemma that requires a wise decision, you do not need prosperity in the form of money, you need wisdom from God. You need a Word of knowledge.  As we strive to reach a point where we are increasing materially, we need to strive to increase in the knowledge of God.  If we are filled with the knowledge of His will, then we know that He wants us to prosper in whatsoever we undertake.

All the riches in the world belong to God. Your job can determine your salary, but it has no determination on your income.  God will add to your salary and prosper you in ways that you never imagined. You may look to your boss for your salary, but you must look to God for your income.  You may be making minimum wage but God will bless you on all avenues, coming in and going out. Your income from God will far exceed your salary.

Where do you stand therefore, to enjoy prosperity by the spirit of God? First, you must make up your mind to promote Jesus and His kingdom. Jesus said, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me” (John 12:32) your motives, your priorities and your relationship must be right with God in order to enjoy divine prosperity. God is granting you divine lifting today and no power can bring you down in Jesus name.

PRAYER

  1.  Father I thank you for the superior power bestowed upon me to lift me above all forms of opposition in Jesus name.

2.   I pull down every barrier standing against the lifting of the name of Jesus in my life in Jesus name.

SUCCEEDING ON THE JOB

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.”

                                                                                                              Proverbs 18:

God is interested in the work you do; He’s also interested in how you do it. The truth is, your prospects for the future are determined by your work ethic. When it comes to having a work ethic, ‘Go to the ant, consider its ways and be wise.’ These tiny giants of industry teach us valuable principle for living. Observe three things about them:

The ant has no commander, no overseer or ruler(Proverbs 6:7). Nobody has to get it out of bed in the morning or coax it to get moving. Nobody supervises its work or enforces quality standards on it. Nobody needs to micromanage its time on the job or make sure it starts punctually. It’s self-motivated and driven by its own high standards, not by rules, regulations or the fear of being fired.   2)It stores its provision in summer and gathers its food at harvest(Proverbs 6:8). While everybody else is complaining about the heat(the weather, economy etc) the hardworking ant just keep preparing for the future. It continues gathering disregarding the conditions. Then while others are struggling to survive, it feasts on the fruits of its labour.

If you want to succeed on the job, you must cultivate the act of diligence. Bible says that diligence is precious (Proverbs 12:27) because it’s hard to find. Diligent workers are worth their wages. In God’s system, the boss should profit by you and you should profit by him. Indeed diligent people plan to be profitable employees. Do you want to prosper? See that your employer prospers. Diligence is what will get you promoted. In God’s economy, you determine whether you become a ruler or slave by how hard you’re willing to work.   Lazy employees complain about everything; they want the privileges others get but they’re not willing to work for them. But the diligent gets the satisfaction of a job well done, a reputation for integrity, the trust of others, job security, profit, promotion and most importantly the Master’s “Well done”

Another Bible characteristic to acquire for job success is thoughtfulness. Good employers and supervisors make it their business to know the needs, strengths, weaknesses, potential and motivational levels of their workers. As a result, employee sick time is reduced and morale improved. A pay increase isn’t always the best motivator. Sometimes your thoughtfulness, understanding and interest in your employees are a more powerful motivator.

Respect and care invites cooperation, makes allies, not adversaries of employees and employers, and brings out the best in everybody. If you’re an employee, speak well of your boss, honour him or her and submit to their authority(Romans 13:1-7) If you can’t, say nothing and look for another job otherwise you’ll be judged for undermining them. In the parable of the talents, Jesus said that the workers who took care of the boss’s interests were rewarded richly. Yes God will honour you for respecting even a difficult boss.

PRAYER

  1. Lord, I thank you for this new month of June and all your provisions in my life including the wonderful job you’ve provided for me in Jesus name.
  2. Oh Let every tree of profitless hard labour be uprooted and destroyed from my life in Jesus name.

WALKING BY FAITH

Now the just shall live by faith; but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”       Hebrews 10:38

Walking by faith is not easy. When you make up your mind to trust God the odds are usually stacked against you. Remember Noah? When he built the ark there had been no rain. The outcome isn’t always what you expect.   Sometimes faith doesn’t change your circumstances, it changes you by giving you the tenacity to hang in there when things work contrary to your expectations.   Faith gives you the fortitude to endure these things, confident that God is working on your behalf.

So walking by faith means, trusting in the faithfulness of God, following in the footsteps of ordinary people who did extraordinary things. When the Bible says, ‘the just shall live by faith’, its talking about a lifestyle. Anybody can go the first few rounds in the ring; it’s when you’re knocked down in the ninth round that you need faith to get back up and keep fighting. When the plane you’re flying encounters turbulence you don’t throw away your ticket and bail out, you sit still and trust God not the Pilot.

Walking by faith means that you continue to cling to the dreams God has planted in your heart, even when you’ve been thrown away, taken to prison for crimes you didn’t commit. Like Joseph did.  Think about Abraham clinging to the promise that he would be the father of many nations even though he was childless at the age of 100. Think about Moses standing before the Israelites in the wilderness telling them they would eat meat until it disgusted them but having no idea where that meat would come from. Think about Joshua marching around the walls of Jericho as God had told him to and wondering what good it was going to do.

I don’t know what your shake up might look like, but I know that if you will give it to God—throw up your arms in surrender and ask Him to use it to change your life—He will honor your request. He will take you on a journey, teach you to walk by faith, entrust you with some of life’s most treasured moments. He will build a faith in you—faith that moves mountains and moves God’s hands. He will teach you to live this life with abandonment, giving you a freedom to walk in all his fullness and grace. He will prepare you to be used mightily in this life for His glory.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK

1.Father, I receive faith today to call those things which I desire in my life to be in Jesus name.

2.Oh Lord, you have crowned me with glory I cannot end up in shame and dishonour. I therefore let every satanic envy target at me scatter in Jesus name.

THE GOD OF MIRACLES

“Behold ye among the heathen, and regard and wonder marvelously; for I will work a  work in your days, which ye will not believe, through it be told you.” Habakkuk 1:5e

A miracle can be defined as divine intervention in the affairs of men. It’s a deliberate act on the part of God to validate or authenticate His presence, His kindness and His love in the affairs of men.

We are living in the days of miracle; not the days of magical arts; not the days wherein, evil powers dominate. Because we are living in the days of miracle, which are the days of the Holy Ghost, there is nothing the Holy Ghost will not do for anyone that believes in Him.

I have come to discover that a lot of people allow the devil to dictate the events of their lives because they are ignorant of the tremendous power of God resident in them. Satan is not permitted to rule unless you give him room through your ignorance. A child of God cannot survive in the hands of the evil one, when he or she lives a natural life. The presence of evil spirits should not hinder the hand of God in your life when you know the power you carry and rely on it.

The problem of Christians is failure to recognize the power beyond every other power within them. They unconsciously hinder this power from working miracles in their lives and so, the devil is having a field day.

Apostle Paul affirms in 1 Cor.2:4 that the gospel he preached was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom but in demonstration of the power of God. The shows that, they preached God’s Word, with signs and wonders following. Behold, until unbelievers see the demonstration of the power of God you profess, through you, they will not believe. John 4:48

“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God” Romans 8:19.

This power is not just meant for Pastors, Evangelists, or teachers; it is given to every genuine child of God and when it is activated, you become a spectacle to behold by unbelievers. There is no day of miracle but God of miracle. People may say the days of miracle have passed but the God of miracles is still alive and He does miracles for His people. From today, I release you into a world of wonders and undeniable miracles in Jesus Name. Most people try to put God in a box. They think God is stereotyped God who does specific things at specific times in normal or natural ways. They always expect him to go through the same normal process and protocols.

What people call normal is abnormal to God. God is not a God of protocols. He doesn’t respect natural laws; He only respects His Word. He broke the natural law in the life of Sarah who was past the age of child bearing. No wonder He said always neither His thoughts our thoughts. He does not always have to do it the way we expect or when we expect it; that is what makes Him a God of wonders. A wonder is something that has never been seen before and I see God doing it for you this month. The wonder working power of God doesn’t meet you and leave you the same. Don’t postpone your day of miracle or else you postpone your testimony. May this power work in you to change every negative situation in your life and give you a mind boggling testimony in Jesus Name. Shalom!

PRAYER POINTS FOR THE WEEK

THE KINDNESS OF GOD

“And David said, is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake? 2 Samuel 9:1

All of man’s efforts, qualification and status in the society can never bring him to a place of divine fulfillment in life. There is something that is beyond man’s effort. It is the kindness of God.

God is extremely kind and incredibly loving. This kindness is freely given to every child of God through Christ Jesus

“But after that the kindness and love of God our saviour toward man appeared (Titus 3:4)

The greatest demonstration of kindness is Jesus Christ laying down His precious life for humanity. Although we deserved to be condemned, God is His Kindness saved us (Titus 3:5). Throughout the entire history of mankind, God has always demonstrated His kindness to man. Every man needs the kindness of God to excel in life.

“So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showth mercy” Rom.9:16 From our opening scripture, David demonstrated God’s kindness when he remembered a long term promise he made to his friend Jonathan. He promised not only to show kindness to Jonathan but also to any of his household “And thou shalt not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the Lord that I die not; but also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever, no not when the Lord hath cut off the enemies of David everyone from the face of the earth” 1 Sam.20:14-15

The kindness that David showed to Mephiboshet is a type of God’s kindness towards us. Because Christ went to the cross to die for us. He can also demonstrate His kindness towards us when we learn to trust Him. The kindness of a man can make his fellow man desirable but what makes a man attractive wherever he goes despite his flaws is the kindness of God upon his life which causes the right people to be drawn to him.

God’s kindness does not consider where you’re coming from or your capabilities; it is blind in its operation because it is propelled  by the supernatural love of God for mankind. The kindness of God is not a respecter of persons, race or colour. Mephibosheth was a most unlikly candidate and had nothing in him to inherit the kindness; he found himself sitting on the same table with the king. I prophesy to you that by the kindness of God working in you this week, you shall be elevated above your equals in Jesus Name.

A lot of Christians however fail to recognize the operation of the kindness of God in their lives, no wonder they cannot show kindness to others. No one wants to have a friend that is not kindhearted. God uses His kindness to pull you to Him; therefore when you show kindness to others, it causes them to be drawn to you and to the God you profess. When God makes up his mind to show you His merciful kindness. The Holy Spirit goes to work to bring to pass every of your expectations. I declare to you that by the operation of the kindness of God, kingdoms shall be divided for your sake. May you continue to enjoy the kindness of God in Jesus Name.

THE WONDERS OF HIS MERCY

But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ(by grace are ye saved) Ephesians 2:4-5

sometimes, the church tends to confuse mercy with grace. While the terms have similar meaning, grace and mercy are not the same. Mercy is not grace and grace is not mercy.

Grace is derived from the Greek word, “charis’ which means favour. Grace is God, blessing us even though we don’t deserve it. God does not owe us anything; whatever good we experience is as a result of grace (Eph.2:5) Grace is simply defined as unmerited favour. By the operation of grace in a man or woman’s life, he or she receives from God the miracles that his or her physical efforts couldn’t have given. I prophesy today that by the operation of the grace of God this week, you shall collide with a mega miracle that you’re not qualified for in Jesus Name.

Mercy on the other hand, is a companion to God’s grace. It means, not receiving the judgement that is due. It is an act of God by which He withholds the punishment we deserve. The entire mankind has sinned against God and earned the wages of sin which is death (Rom. 6:23) God has every right to judge us but mercy prevailed and God withholds the penalty due us.

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because His compassion fail not” Lam.3:22.

In Exodus 25:20, God gave Moses instruction on how the mercy seat should be built God told Moses to exact the mercy seat above the ark, meaning the mercy of God is exalted above judgement.”And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark, and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel” Ex. 25:21-22

There is a place where God likes to meet with you as a believer; it is not a place of judgment because He has not sent His son to judge you; but upon the mercy seat because, though you deserved condemnation but because of His mercy, He has withdrawn judgement from you.

The entire populace of mankind is living by mercy today but the child of God is not meant to live by mercy but by grace because mercy brought us to Christ in the first place, grace is what keeps and sustains us in Christ. However, it is still possible for you as a child of God to exhaust your apportioned mercy when you willingly continue to go contrary to God’s word. This withdraws the mercy and grace of God from your life but this shall not be your portion in Jesus Name.

God will never cease to be merciful. But you as a child of God’s word. One of the devises of the devil against a child of God is the weapon of accusation to keep you in bondage of guilt. But he has forgotten that over and above the ark, there is a mercy seat from where God is you. No man is perfect but every child of God should walk towards perfection trusting the Holy Spirit to help him.

Friend, do not take the mercy of God for granted. Don’t  allow the devil deceive you and say ‘God understands’. This is one of his devices to disqualify you from your blessing. The only thing God understands is His Word and he will not break His word. I prophesy to you this week  by the operation of God’s mercy and grace, strange miracles shall be seen in your life from today in Jesus Name, Amen.

DOING GOD’S WORK GOD’S WAY

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”    Ephesians 2:10

Anytime you ask, ‘what on earth am I here for’” the Bible answers,’ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  God created you for a prearranged mission.  You’re a conscript, not a volunteer.  You don’t get to decide your calling and it’s a mistake to try and duplicate somebody else’s calling.  Remember Moses?  God called him to deliver Israel from Egypt but he tries doing it his own way.  Killing an enemy to save a brother’s life, he winds up a forty year fugitive.  After living in the wilderness and learning his lesson he returns to do God’s will, God’s way.  All of us, not just ordained ministers, are called to do God’s work God’s way.

The Bible says there’s a way that seems right to a person but the end of that way is destruction (Proverbs 16:25) Just because it seems right doesn’t mean its okay.  God told Moses to speak to the rock and water would come out.  It seemed okay for Moses to strike the rock and water came out.  But God told him, ‘Because you did that, you will not enter the promise land.  Not doing God’s work God’s way can cause you your inheritance irrespective of how long you have been doing the work.  God told king Saul to wait for Samuel to offer the sacrifice on the altar.  It seemed okay to the king to offer the sacrifice himself since Samuel delayed in coming.  He offered it but God became angry with him and rejected him from being king.

Many people want to serve God their own way but man’s ways are not God’s ways.  What seem right to us is not going to count before God.  God’s work is not man’s work, where opinions and suggestions are required from the majority to determine how a work is to be carried.  God is the owner of His work and His work must be done according to the way He has directed in His Word for it to be done.  It is then that we can prosper and be rewarded.

In Acts 21:27-40, we see Paul willing to give up his own way in order to do what God had called him to do.  That is not always easy to do because we are too easily convinced that our way is the best way.  We tend to naturally assume that danger, difficulty and pain must be avoided at all cost.  However Paul shows us that God has a bigger plan than just keeping us away from danger.  Paul knew it was the will of the Lord for him to go Jerusalem, so when the people try to persuade him not to go, he refused to heed knowing that the one who called him to go there would see him through whatever difficulty he would encounter.  If we want to see God’s will done in our lives, then we must commit ourselves to doing God’s work, His way.

DO NOT GIVE UP

“The soul of the sluggard desireth and haths nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.” Proverbs. 13:14

There is no such things as failure unless and until we accept it as such, give up and call it quits. This is what happens to the majority when the going becomes tough. Not so to the strong willed for they know that failure is but temporary; a time to gather up until the desired success is achieved is what separates boys from man. Whoever must get to the top must be ready to climb up. Climbing is not an easy task but it does not mean it is impossible. Mount Everest is reputed to be the highest mountain in the world, yet men have climbed it. Also, river Mississippi is the longest river, men traced it to is source. That means that no assignment is too tough for the one who is ready and determined to succeed.

There is no failure for a man whose spirit is unconquerable. As long as there is life, there remains the opportunity to succeed in it. The larger our losses, the larger we must develop our manhood to soar above them. One major ingredient you need in developing yourself is idea; that is creative thinking. There are three major sources of ideas; from God through inspiration; from the mind as you think thoughtfully and from others as you read or listen to them. You must never run out of ideas in whatever you do because ideas rule the world. The man that gives up easily is not likely to amount to much, even if he had everything. Quitters never win. Do not ever give up on your mission no matter the challenges. If a road is blocked, try another route. If a person disappoints, someone else will be useful, so go on; do it again and again until it is done. Receive God’s grace to succeed in your endeavors in Jesus Name.
